Meet the Team

We welcome comments and questions from everyone, but especially residents of Surbiton Hill Ward whom we aim to represent at borough level and beyond.

Councillor Malcolm Self

Born and brought up in Hounslow, Malcolm moved to Surbiton in 1985. He was elected to represent Surbiton Hill ward in May 2010 and combines his Council duties with self-employment fitting bathrooms and kitchens. His is an active backbencher taking an interest in a wide range of issues; he has recently become a member of the Development Control committee. Malcolm is married with two children who both attend The Hollyfield School. Malcolm says:
‘I moved to Surbiton in 1985 because of its pleasant residential amenities with good local schools, whilst being only a few minutes away from the vibrancy of Kingston town centre and also its good transport links to London. Whilst nothing in life is ever perfect, I haven’t been disappointed. I stood for election as I felt it was time to give something back to the community; elected office is certainly a challenge but hopefully one that I have lived up to and will continue to do so.’
